PCSHS: Nutrition Month 2017

In relation of promoting a balanced diet and well-rounded students ,Pasay City South High School prove their determination as TLE-Home Economics  successfully conducted the National Nutrition Month throughout the month of July.

          With the theme of “Healthy Diet Gawing Habit-For Life. Students take part their role as they gained the importance of nutrition with the given activities including Poster Making, Slogan Making Contest, Jingle Making  and the Cookfest.

The celebration was completed with an amazing food bazaar that ends up the Nutrition Month with an achievement. Winners for each contests received a recognition for being one of the best entrant with each activity.

For the Poster Making: Julie Ann Baltar of 9-Alonzo and Bea Tunacao won 1st Place. Keith Maui Alejandre and Lance Joushua Gagarin won 2nd Place. For the Jingle Making the students of 8-Acacia won 1st place with 9-Aguinaldo and Alonzo as the 2nd Place and 8-Mahogany as the 3rd Place.

Mobilizing a Greener School

          To promote a good welfare and to create a bigger impact to student’s health, Pasay City South High School goes greener as it mobilizes Go Green Program led by our Junior High Assistant Principal Dr. Cynthia Abella last August 10, 2017 at PCSHS Gymnasium.

          The Go Green Program or the Green School Program is a group of projects that aim to make the campus welfare healthier, conserve natural resources, lessen school operation cost, involve whole community in solving ecological problem and prepare the school and the community for any natural disaster or any adversity.

          To start up the program, an energetic zumba dance given by students of 10- Alexandrite to manifest one of the values under the said program and was followed by two video presentation about the conservation of our natural resources and the ways we could help our school campus to be a greener school.

Dr. Abella explained seven ways to go green, the following are:

– Toxic Reduction, Indoor and Outdoor Air Quality and Acoustical Performance

– Resources Sustainability

– Green Healthy Space

– Health and Wellness

-Environmental Literacy

– Preparedness, Safety and Security

-Linkages and Network

          Dr. Abella did not only explain these cores but she puts a challenge on the way to creating a bigger impact and implementing our goals.

          Furthermore, she stated that it is between the initiative and everyone’s effort to succeed improving and safeguarding the environment within our school, home and our community and engaging the student on how to be environmental stewards for a lifetime.

          As each core are already being implemented, PCSHS sets its vision towards long-term responsibility in achieving all this objectives.

             

PCSHS guests at the district interact assembly 2017

September 30, 2017 – the Interact Club of Pasay City South High School attended the District Interact Assembly (DIA) held in Malate Catholic School, Malate Manila with the theme of “#beyondYOLO, Interactors Making a Difference”.

PCSHS joined the rest of the Rotary International District 3810 including schools from Manila, Pasay, Cavite and Occidental Mindoro led by  Raiza Jan H. Taglinao; President under the supervision of Mrs. Milita V. Miana their club adviser.

 

 

Ms. Maria Ana C. Ciriaco ,DCC for New Generation; Mr. Emmanuel A. Cosico, District Governor and Ms. Natalia D. Flores ,District Interact Chairman headed the program. Also, DIA Chairman Ms. Cecilia A. Lucentales, Great President Ms. Catherine Ruth E. Tagle and District Interact Representative Mr. Janmel L. Usman were there to supervise the program.

The Interact Assembly mainly focuses to let the students to build up their social skills and get out from their comfort zone making each students to be segregated and grouped to different teams to get along with new set of friends…. padagdag yung sabi ni leiyan yung iba nyo dawn a pinagusapan may pa subic subic daw yun

Students from different schools executed intermission numbers and Mae Jullien M. Perez left an impression to everyone showing she is not just a beauty, but she also showed that she can own the stage with her strong vocals. She was reportedly this year’s winner of the Rotary Singing.

Southenians cop awards in Division Science and Technology Fair 2017

Pasay City South High School attest its desire for science as it take part in the Division Science and Technology Fair held at Pasay City North Tramo last 17th of October,2017 with its theme  “Science for the People”

          Mrs Maripaz T. Mendoza, Education Program Supervisor- Science welcomed everyone by her opening remarks, promoting science and technology in each school to address problems and to encourage young students to carry on their passion for science.

          In the celebration of Division Science and Technology Fair , Division of Pasay introduced a new contest which is “Science Warrior”  that also in habit the spirit of the past quest to continuously engage themselves on the subject.

          Sean Ryzel Riparip from grade 11 stem-argon won 1st place in poster making while Mr Reymark Balingit, Mr Fernando Feriol, Mrs. Mary Ann E Garcia and Mrs. Catherine Gonzales, Senior High teachers of PCSHS also won 1st place for the category of improvisation of science equipment.

          And once again after many years, PCSHS submitted 5 investigatory project  making its return in the said category, students who joined in the category held that they will eagerly comeback with more preparedness and ideas.

          Mrs. Elma Amongol, OIC Head of Science Department congratulated everyone for their accomplishment and awards.

Rosary Rally holds at Success

With the annual celebration, The Marian Youth Movement (MYM) organization of Pasay City South High School (PCSHS) took part in the ceremony of the Celebration of the Feast  of our Blessed Virgin Mary the Rosary Rally and Kick-Off Mass last September 03, 2016 held at St. Alphonsus Mary de Liguori Parish.

 All the MYM members from different school sectors were gathered such as Pasig, Pateros, Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasay an

d SanJuan (PAPATMAPASAN) having more than 500 people attended the celebration led by Msgr. Claro Matt M. Garcia, Director of MYM.

  The celebration highlights 3 important topic; The Act of Apostolic Penitentiary mandated by our Holy Father Pope Francis who grants Plenary Indulgence when visiting the church , next is the Ecology Month which talks about how people can reduce the effect of carbon in the atmosphere and lastly to worship God and bring their fate to highest.

Msgr. Garcia elaborated the roles of each MYM students in their campus that inspires all the students to be a great example to everyone and implement a nice comradely within co-MYM.

Religious acts paired with dancing, singing and even presenting the works of each school strengthens the bond within all the MYM members to do the main purpose of the organization.

Overall, the ceremony wouldn’t be in a success without the help and support of Sis. Philomena Ma. Hilaus, MYM Assistant Directress, Sis. Ann Ma. Alimpolos and MYM Coordinators, Teacher Animators of PAPATMAPASAN Sector and all the Students who participated in this event.

 

 

Haraya: The Awakening Philippine Arts Symposium

      On August 10, 2017, selected students of Pasay City South High School attended at the Asia Pacific College event; Haraya: The Awakening Philippine Arts Symposium centralizing the mindset of each student in Philippine’s art.

                “Haraya” meaning “imagination”, the event was set to establish the need of innovation of each students’ mind behind the culture of the Philippine arts and modernize their vision towards a bigger picture in this ground.

                Speakers from different type of fields of media was invited to share their experiences and thoughts about the art they are pursuing and how some of them represented our country.

                Icon De Jesus, an animator who happens to partook on the production of some of the world famous cartoons like Bananas in Pajamas, J Pacena II, a multimedia artist who directed one of Gloc 9 motion graphic music videos, Kenjie Villacorte, a former actor at Tanghalang Pilipino Actor company and The controversial Mideo Cruz was there complete the whole event

                After the talks, an open forum was set to answer some of the students’ questions regarding their concerns involving themselves in this kind of media. Luckily, the speakers were glad to give some advices towards their queries and further elaborate on how they can turn out to be successful.

PCSHS: Unang Earthquake Drill 2017, Inilunsad

Sa pagsagawa ng Earthquake Drill, tinatayang limang minuto ang naitalang . oras bago pa tuluyang makalisan ang mga mag-aaral sa mga establisyemento ng paaralan. Hindi hamak na mas matagal ito sa isang minutong inilaan bilang tanmang oras ng pag evacuateAyon kay Ginoong Somogod, ang mabagal na pagresponde at ang paggawa nito bilang isang biro ang naging dahilan ng mabagal na pag usad ng nasabing Drill. Limang etudyante din ang naitalang nahimatay sa kasagsagan ng init.                Pinangunahan ng chairman ng BERT ( Batang Emergency Response Team) na si Ginoong Jimark Somogod ang nasabing Earthquake Drill. Isinagawa ito bilang paghahanda sa mga mag-aaral na maging ligtas sa loob ng paaralan kung sakali mang tamaan ng lindol ang ating lungsod.

            “Sisiguraduhing naming na maiimprove pa ang results sa susunod na Earthquake Drill lalo na at atin itong isasagawa buwan buwan.” Dagdag pa ni Ginoong Somogod.

Nationwide Earthqauke Drill: PCSHS, Nakiisa

            Nakiisa ang lahat ng mga mag-aaral, guro at iba pang mga kasapi ng Pasay City South High School sa idinaos na “Nationwide Earthquake drill” na ginanap sa iba’t-ibang panig ng Pilipinas para sa taong ito bilang paghahanda para sa pagdating ng tinatawag na “The Big One”.

Sa ganap na 2:02 ng tanghali, sinimulang pa-ingayin ang sirena ng Pasay City South High School bilang panimula sa nationwide earthquake drill. Ngunit 4 na minuto pa bago nakalabas ang lahat mula sa mga establisyimento ng paaralan dahil sa kaunting aberya na naganap sa ikalawang palapag kung saan mali ang direksyon na dinaanan ng mga estudyante

            Ayon kay Ginoong Jimark Somogod, “Hindi mali ang direksyon, maaaring nalito lamang ang mga mag-aaral kaya’t namali sila ng dinaanan papalabas. Ito ang naging sanhi ng pagkakaroon ng stampid.”

            Sa pangunguna ni Ginoong Manuel Iglesias, ipinahayag niya ang mga dapat gawin sa panahon ng kalamidad at isa na dito ang Dock, cover and hold. Kanya ring ipinaalam ang iba’t-ibang uri ng kalamidad gaya ng sunog, lindol, pati na rin ang iba’t-ibang klase ng signal warning upang sa ganon malaman ito ng lahat.

            Ayon naman kay Binibining Paula Ramos na siyang naka-distino sa klinika, mayroong tatlong estudyante ang isinugod sa klinika dahil sa tindi ng init at siksikan sa nasabing Earthquake Drill.
