PCSHS ON BRAINIAC: CLASH OF THE SCI – TECH CHAMPS

Pasay City South High School earned a spot on the biggest Sci – Tech Clash of the year, the first ever BRAINIAC: Clash of the Sci – tech champs participated by 250 students from 60 public and private schools held at Bahay ng Alumni, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City last June 17, 2023. The said team competition was organized by the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in coordination with the DEPED NCR covering Science and Mathematics for Junior High School and Science, Mathematics and Research for Senior High School. The Senior High School Team composed of Grade 12 students namely Jean Christlyn Micah P. Asuncion, Numan C. Alam and Arvin Carlo M. Senador coached by Ms. May Ann D. Romano and the STEM teachers were able to emerge as one of the TOP 20 FINALISTS out of the 37 public and private schools. Alam and Senador were also awarded with bronze medals (180 to 224 points) as one of the BEST INDIVIDUAL SCORERS. The Junior High School Team composed of multi – levels namely Gabriel Robert A. Junio, Kayden Vera Cruz and Bryn Jared Llaneta coached by Mr. Jessie L. De Los Santos, Jr. were also awarded with Merit Certificates for the Brainiac Challenge. All under the supervision of Mrs. Editha F. Alimbuyuguen, Master Teacher II – Subject Group Head for STEM and Mrs. Ma. Elma V. Amongol, Head Teacher VI, Department Head for Science. This was also made possible with the 100% support for the team’s needed resources by the school administration headed by Mrs. Emilia L. Tolentino, Principal VI and Dr. Mark Anthony F. Familaran, Assistant Principal II.

The Brainiac Challenge aims to enrich the Science, Mathematics and Research competencies of the learners in high school in both private and public schools within the National Capital Region. This also encourages learners to strive and promote inter-division interaction to expose the learners to best practices and develop values of perseverance, honesty, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Also, this rewards the top learners to boost their desire to excel and geared towards improving the quality of education in Science and Technology.
