March 8 is marked every year as the celebration of International Women’s Day worldwide, and Pasay City South High School (PCSHS) has been observing this significant celebration along with the other people, particularly the women in the whole world as a manifestation of its support and recognition of the significant role of women in the development and progress in the society.

Pasay City South High School took part in the celebration of the 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration with its theme: We Make Change for Women: Agenda ng Kababaihan Tungo sa Kaunlaran last March 8, 2022, (Tuesday) from 8:00 am to 12:00nn at the PSCHS school grounds. The celebration was led by our school head, Mrs. Emilia L. Tolentino, a very strong woman and a transformational leader in her own right. She was assisted by our assistant principal, Dr. Mark Anthony F. Familiaran who has expressed his support to the great contribution of women in society particularly in the academe. The said celebration was actively participated in by the PCSHS GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) headed by the GFPS coordinator, Mrs. Salvacion Prado, the JHS Department Heads, the SHS Subject Group Heads, and the PCSHS non-teaching staff.

The celebration was divided into four parts which are as follows: Part I: Flag Raising Ceremony; Part II: Launching of 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration; Part III: Morning Break; and Part IV which was the Meeting of GAD Focal Point System (GFPS).

The launching of the 2022 National Women’s Month at PCSHS included the Kick-off parade which was joyfully participated in by the Gad Focal Point System members, the JHS Department Heads, and the SHS Subject Group Heads. The group was led by none other than the very hard-working PCSHS Principal Mrs. Emilia L. Tolentino, and the ever-supportive Assistant Principal, Dr. Mark Anthony F. Familiaran. The launching also included the very symbolic posting of the GAD tarpaulin at the PCSHS Main Gate, a Zumba which was led by the very energetic MAPEH teacher Mrs. Ethel S. Donesa, and of course the very inspiring messages of Mrs. Tolentino and Dr. Familiaran who both in their messages strongly recognized that women indeed could do and contribute great things to the development and improvement of the society with due respect to the opposite sex.

The launching of the Women’s Celebration was facilitated by Mrs. Ginalyn Allen who acted as the program EMCEE and Mrs. Salvacion Prado, the GFPS Coordinator.

This year’s launching of the International Women’s Celebration ended with a meeting that was attended by the members of the GFPS. The participants have shown their recognition of the continuing and emerging women’s empowerment and gender equality issues and concerns, challenges, and commitments.
